Google+ Tips & Tricks: 10 More Ways To Make the Most of Your Account
Here at Mashable, we’ve been hard at work digging into Google’s new social network. All that searching has turned up even more useful shortcuts and tips.
Below we bring you 10 more ways to help you get the most out of your Google+ account.

View As One Page »
A good way to ensure you don't miss any important circle additions is to hit up the "People who've added you" view every once in while.
To see this on your profile, click on the circles tab and then select the option. Once you're in this view, you can click on the drop down menu to view "Not yet in circles."
This will bring you the people that have circled you, but that you haven't circled in return. It's an at-a-glance method to catch anyone that might have slipped through your circle net.
1. Check Your "Added to Circle" Notifications1The main "notifications" view is useful but it can be a little cluttered to work through with all of those overlapping updates in one list
You can actually filter those notifications by clicking the "More" drop-down option at the top right of your page.
Being able to view mentions, photo tags, posts by you, posts by others and circle additions is a lot more useful than the default view.
2. Filter Your Notifications2When you add a link to a post, Google+ doesn't always automatically select the correct thumbnail to go with the content.
Before you hit share, make sure the thumb is right. If it doesn't, click on the arrows that appear on the top left of the image to scroll through the options.
Alternatively, hitting the "X" removes the thumbnail from your post altogether.
3. Select the Correct Thumbnail3The handy notifications icon on your Google+ toolbar can save you tons of time.
Once you've hit the icon, you can see more notifications by using the left and right arrows to scroll. You can even save time by adding comments from the notification window.
4. Save Time With the Notifications Toolbar Icon4It's not immediately obvious how to tag people in your Google+ photos.
To tag people, you have to open your photo in the lightbox viewing mode. To do this, go to your photos tab, select the album, then click on the photo. This should load it up in lightbox view, at which point you'll see the option to "add tag."
An important note: If you tag someone in a G+ pic they will have access to view the entire album in which that photo appears.
5. Tag People in Photos5High resolution video chat is available in Google+ but you need to take some steps to enable it. Click on the chat's drop-down menu and select settings. Now, check the "Enable high-resolution video" box.
6. Enable High-Res Video Chat6Google+ profile photos are 200 pixels by 200 pixels. Rather than chop down a larger pic, or worse still, stretch a smaller one, we suggest resizing the image you want to use as a perfect 200 x 200 pixel square before you upload it. This means your image will appear exactly as you want it to.
7. Lock Down the Dimensions of Your Profile Pic7The default setting on Google+ is that your +1'ed pages from around the web will not show up on your profile. However, you can change this to let people see what you've been liking.
Go to your profile tab, click "edit profile," then click on the +1's tab. You will now get the option to "Show this tab on your profile."
8. Display Your +1's8One of the most popular features of the Plus mobile app is the "Nearby" functionality that lets you view public posts in your vicinity.
Until this makes it to the web version, we have a workaround that lets you view the location-based stream on your computer.
The URL for the mobile version of Google+ is m.google.com/plus, however, entering this in your browser will just redirect you to an info landing page about Google mobile
Entering https://m.google.com/app/plus/, however, will load up the mobile version proper and let you tune into those local posts.
9. View Your "Nearby" Stream on a Computer9Google+ makes it possible to send invitations to join the service without even needed an email address.
This is ideal for enticing friends and followers over from Facebook and Twitter respectively. The "Send invitations" option on the right of your Google+ screen now generates a link to invite up to 150 people.
10. Send Invites Without an Email Address10If you're unsure of the correct way to write "+1's" or "+1'd," Google is offering an explanation.
"It’s... acceptable to use an apostrophe to add clarity and make sure people read words as intended — for example, when your school teacher tells you to mind your p’s and q’s (as opposed to your ps and qs)."
Are you convinced?

Call Your Friends Right From Facebook (1)
Over the last year, the messages team has been working to make it easier to have one on one conversations with your friends. In November, we launched the new messages, which brings together your chats, texts, emails and messages all in one place.
Today I'm excited to introduce video calling and other improvements to chat.
See The Friends You Message Most
The new chat design includes a sidebar that lists the people you message most. Now it's easier to find your friends and start a conversation. The sidebar adjusts with the size of your browser window, and it automatically appears when the window is wide enough.
Create a Group Chat Instantly
We're also launching multi-person chat, which is one of our most requested features. Now when your friends can't figure out what movie to see, you can just add them to a chat and decide together. To include more friends in your conversation, simply select Add Friends to Chat.
And just like your other chats, the history of your conversation is available in messages.
Bring Your Conversations to Life
Video chat has been around for years now, but it's still not an everyday activity for most people. Sometimes it's too difficult to set up, or the friends you want to talk to are on different services.
So a few months ago, we started working with Skype to bring video calling to Facebook. We built it right into chat, so all your conversations start from the same place. To call your friend, just click the video call button at the top of your chat window.
Talk to friends around the world right from Facebook.
For those of us who have been working on this, it's particularly exciting to bring video calling to over 750 million people. We're making this available in over 70 different languages, so friends can stay in touch all over the world.
Video calling will be available to everyone over the next few weeks, but if you don't want to wait, you can get it now.
Philip Su, an engineer on the video calling team, will be making his first video call to his parents back in Maryland
I really like this feature!!

HOW TO Connect Your LinkedIn Profile With Twitter For Better Networking - AllTwitter
Both Twitter and LinkedIn are great for networking with professionals, co-workers and business associates. But rather than flipping between the two networks, they’ve made it easy to connect to one another in order to leverage both at the same time. Here’s how.
LinkedIn has a dedicated Twitter application which allows for quick and easy integration of your Twitter account into your LinkedIn profile.Housed in the LinkedIn learning center, the Twitter app enables users to post their LinkedIn status to their Twitter followers, their tweets to their LinkedIn network, or both.
The app allows very fine-grain control over which tweets/LinkedIn statuses you share with your other network.
You can choose to share all of your tweets as LinkedIn status updates, or only those which contain the hashtags #in or #li – a great way to automatically select tweets to share without having to copy and paste each tweet manually. The app also allows users to tweet LinkedIn status updates on their Twitter account.
And the app even has those overly-indulgent content sharers in mind: you can hide any individual’s LinkedIn status updates from your home stream just by hovering over one of their updates and clicking “hide”. This is great if someone is pushing all of their 20+ daily tweets to LinkedIn.
Another useful feature of this LinkedIn Twitter app is the insight into which of your LinkedIn connections you are currently following on Twitter, and which ones you are not following. It’s a great idea to dig into this number on the “Connections” tab on LinkedIn, and follow anyone who you aren’t already following on Twitter. This can serve to strengthen your professional network on both LinkedIn and Twitter.
In addition to (or as an alternative to) following your LinkedIn connections on Twitter, you could create a Twitter list that you update with each new LinkedIn connection. This will show you all of the Twitter updates from your LinkedIn network without cluttering up your home timeline.
Know of any other ways you can connect your LinkedIn profile with Twitter? Let us know in the comments below!
